The Southern Group Show: An outing with the youngsters

The Southern Group Show was held at the Priory Equestrian centre, Farnham Surrey, on the 5th of October. It was the first introduction to the show ring for our strawberry roan colt, Snelsmore Orlando. He has been given time to mature, so we were especially pleased with his results on the day; Ms G Wright placed him to win his Novice class, followed by the three year-old class, Junior Championship and Reserve Senior Championship. What a great start in the show ring for him. He behaved really well and proved to be worth waiting for.
Not to be left out, little Snelsmore Pinocchio, lead by Alan, strutted around the ring to win the two year-old class and Reserve Junior Championship. I think these two will definitely be out to beat Cliff next time.
I wasn’t my day to get a first rosette however I did manage two second places with Snelsmore Quicksilver and Snelsmore Roxanne. Both my ponies performed really well so I really can’t be disappointed in them; just hope for better luck next time.
Finally, Snelsmore Quiz Master, a slightly unsure piebald yearling colt, really pleased us by making good progress and growing in confidence through the day. Like Orlando, it was also his first experience in the ring and he gained two third places in the Novice and Yearling class.  There was a lot for him to think about but the experience will stand be hugely beneficial for him next time he enters the show ring.
