January: Snelsmore Update

Looking forward to a new year at Snelsmore, with all its ups and downs. Brambles our Dexter cow has got us off to a good start having a beautiful heifer calf called Bramley, it won’t be long before the arrival around April of the new foals to the stud and continuing to show are older ponies. Merrylees Nugget has also joined our boys, he was originally meant to be onward bound for Texas from the sales, but his journey didn’t end up as far as expected. He has settled in well at Snelsmore, the weather here is better than the Shetland Island but not as warm as Texas, but I think he has no complaints about his new home with us. Nugget seems to love his cosy stable. Kington Zazarac now in his twenties and still acts like a two-year-old, ran all summer with five maiden mares who look in foal, allowing some of our older mares a chance to have rest this year. Looks like the rest of our stallions have had a good summer too. I think a few sleepless nights for me coming up but hopefully some exciting times ahead. Fingers crossed.
