Gelding Class Sponsorship
We are pleased to be giving lovely rosettes to the highest placed geldings in several classes at the Southern, Wessex and the South Downs Shetland group shows again this year. We are hoping this might encourage gelding owners out there to get into the show ring and have some fun. We would love to hear about your results, perhaps send us a picture of your geldings on Facebook.
Farewell to Donabi Bluberry

We are sad to announce that our lovely Donabi Blueberry has passed away this week of old age.
Blueberry was the first Shetland pony we bought from Reading Sales in 1995 along with a stallion Firth Sunny Glen. This partnership produced our first foal Snelsmore Raspberry; little did we know at the time she was the start of our relationship with Thimbley & Shorland, selling ponies at Reading Sales.
Blueberry was a wonderful foundation mare and we have a lot to thank her for. She will be sadly missed.
Show Tack
We have been working hard this winter on a new range of show tack, based on our knowledge of shetlands and the tack we already use ourselves. We will be starting with leather head collars in three sizes, in-hand show bridles and rolled show slips. All of these will be available to purchase before the start of this year’s showing season. For more information please don’t hesitate to contact us or keep watching our site.
New Website – What a surprise!
A few weeks ago on Christmas day, my Secret Santa left me a little white envelope under the tree. Worried it was a balloon ride or go-karting, it was such a relief and surprise to see that a new website had been built for me by Stuart and Gemma.
Six weeks of hard work has gone into it and I hope you like it as much as I do. Have a look around; there’s lots more information about all of our animals and I am now able to update my news more often. I would love to hear your comments on our new email, info@snelsmore.com.
Jackie.
Tobiano Homozygous
Snelsmore Nightingale and Snelsmore Odakota have both been tested positive as a Tobiano Homozygous, this means they carry the TT gene. Having this gene enables them both to guarantee 100% colour regardless of mate, with a strong possibility of also passing this gene to their offspring. Both ponies are out of Croft Bluebell and by Snelsmore Jasper.
Naturally we are very pleased with this partnership and look forward to next year’s outcome.
Snelsmore Mercury
We are really pleased that Snelsmore Mercury has recently passed his voluntary Vetting and has been sold to stand in Switzerland.
Happy Christmas
We would like to wish all our friends and visitors to our site a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
New Snelsmore Tack Range
As part of our natural expansion we are now able to offer various tack for Shetland Ponies. We will continue to expand on this range so if you would like to purchase any of the stock, please click on the tack for sale page.
Snelsmore Isac
Sadly we lost Snelsmore Isac due to colic it was a very difficult time, Isac put up a long hard fight but unfortunately we couldn’t save him. we have retained his 2011 daughter Snelsmore Ophelia a real Isac look alike and hopefully we will have some his foals this year.
October Sales at Reading
We had two lovely filly foals entered for Reading sales this October. Snelsmore Odele was Overall Foal Champion in the pre sale show ring but unfortunately did not reach her reserve price. If not sold before, we will show her next season. She seems to have enjoyed her showing so far and looks an interesting prospect for 2012.
Meanwhile little Occa has found herself a new home in Belgium. We wish her new owners good luck with her in the future.
We also bought a nicely bred chestnut mare from the Cranford Stud. Cherry Blossom will join our band of mares and I’m sure will give us some lovely stock in the future.
