Foal Update
It seems a long time since Mouse and Victoria had their foals and they have now been joined by a few more to keep them company.
Snelsmore Jacqueline had text-book birth, giving us a cheeky little chestnut colt by Kington Za Za Rac named Peter Pan. Snelsmore Helene narrowly beat Snelsmore Drambuie by a few hours, meaning a very busy night of foaling for me; Helene had a tiny, almost silver and white, filly by Snelsmore Jasper, while Drambuie had a bay and white filly by Snelsmore Lacarno.
The bad weather didn’t put Cranford Cherry off foaling. Despite thunder and lightening, Cherry had her little cream dun colt, Snelsmore Pavalova, in the comfort of the barn unaware of the weather outside. Staplow Lulu decided to wait it out and after several sleepless nights for me, decided to have her foal in the field when the sun was shinning and I was having my breakfast! Luckily the recent rain took a break so that Lulu and her strawberry roan colt could spend their first day together in the natural surroundings among friends; it couldn’t have been more perfect.
I am geting more involved in managing the website myself with the 2012 foals page as my first project. Bear with me, it’s nearly ready!
Designed by Snelsmore
Our new range of tack, ‘Designed by Snelsmore’ is now on the sale page. It will be added to all the time so make sure you keep an eye on it.
We are really pleased with the outcome and hope you are too. Using our experience with both horses and shetlands, we have put together some quality yet affordable tack especially for miniature ponies. As always, we’re interested in your opinion so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Athelney Victoria’s new baby
Vicky, one of our older mare’s by Seva Tom-Tom, as usual caught me out this year. I only took my eyes off our foaling camera for a few moments and like so many times before, she popped out a piebald filly all on her own. I had no problem in naming her as she is mainly white with a huge brown dot on her back; it can only be Snelsmore Polka Dot.
Polka Dot is full Sister to Snelsmore Nathaniel who we have retained in stud. He is a smart little colt and will be put forward for his Voluntary Vetting in 2013, with the view of selling him as a stallion.
New arrivals
We have had a busy week at Snelsmore; not only has our new stock of tack arrived, we’ve had our first foal too.
On Wednesday 18th April, Possingworth Park Wendy, a sweet bay mare better known to us as Mouse, had a lovely little bay colt by Kington Zazarac.
We bought Mouse a couple of years ago knowing her pedigree would work well with Za Za Rac’s; we are so pleased with the outcome having already had a bay filly, Snelsmore Oasis, last year and now a smashing little colt. Our foal names start with ‘P’ this year, so if anybody has any suggestion of a name for him or any other of our foals, please let me know via email or comment on Facebook.
Our tack has also arrived and we are developing a webpage for you to browse and buy the range online. For details, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Wessex Group Spring Show, 25th March

Snelsmore Otis
Our 2012 show season has got off to a good start with lovely weather and strong competition
Snelsmore Nevada our two-year colt has wintered well and took Junior and Reserve Senior Champion, while Snelsmore Mystique was Reserve Junior Champion.
Our two yearlings, Snelsmore Oasis and Snelsmore Otis, were also placed well and behaved beautifully, which is always really encouraging for future shows. Both ponies enjoyed their day and I am sure they will learn and improve from there first experience.
Our 2012 show results page will be up and running soon.
New Stallion
Tawna McVitie has joined our stud as a out-cross to cover some of our young Snelsmore fillies.
McVitie is well bred and has been successfully shown in Scotland. He has already sired some lovely, stock making him an interesting addition to our stud.
Cracker
Our pony Cracker has now been sold and we wish his new owners the best of luck with him.
We will watch his progress with interest, he is a much liked pony that has a future a head of him.
Snelsmore Matilda
Snelsmore Matilda has been sold to a new home in France.
Matilda’s affectionate nature and outward going character makes her the perfect pony to help her new owner, Dominique, start up a new adventure and animal farm.
Matilda will be staying here at the stud a little longer to be covered, giving Dominique time to organise new arrangements for Matilda and two young Shire horses also purchased in England.
I wish them all the best in the future.
