As one door closes another opens

With 2016 nearly coming to an end it seemed like a perfect time to reflex on our year.

The year started well with fourteen foals born at Snelsmore, it’s always such a relief for me to get our foaling finished safely. At the age of twenty-two Kington Zazarac being placed second in the SPSBS leading sire’s awards (highest miniature) and a breeder’s recognition for Snelsmore Stud. His son Snelsmore Pavarotti has inherited a lot of Kington Zazarac characteristics and as well as seeing his first foal born, he passed his voluntary vetting with flying colours. We had a great show season competing at twenty-eight shows, travelling many miles with twenty-five different ponies winning sixty-four first places and fifty-five Championships’s (including Reserve Championships), four Supreme and two Reserve Supreme. Some of the high lights of our showing season were Snelsmore Lalique, winning the Silver medal award at the National Performance show and a Reserve Mountain & Moorland Championship at the NPS Area 12 show. Snelsmore Nevada being Supreme Champion at the Breed show of Wales. Snelsmore Spectre finishing his successful year by winning the Junior Championship at the SPSBS show and Snelsmore  Sundance taking the Reserve Supreme at Chiltern. These two boys are still only yearlings so lots to look forward too next year. Merrylees Nuggett a new addition to our stud had a good year winning his fair share of Championships and looking forward to seeing his foals soon. Snelsmore Quiz Master got our show season off to a good start with a Supreme championship in March and ending our season with a Reserve Miniature in October a fantastic year for him.  As team Percy, we both enjoyed organising three shows for Southern Shetland pony group and hopefully we will keep making improvements in 2017. July was an especially proud time for us as parents watching our beautiful daughter marry her childhood sweet heart and soul mate. Everything was just perfect an amazing few days that I’l never forget. To finish the year also, winning two categories in the Shetland pony.com showing scheme and having our three calves born with Brambles having her second set of twins. Amazing Year!

Not sure if 2017 can better this but fingers crossed we keep safe, well and continue to enjoy our ponies.

“Happy New Year to everyone”
