Vicky, one of our older mare’s by Seva Tom-Tom, as usual caught me out this year. I only took my eyes off our foaling camera for a few moments and like so many times before, she popped out a piebald filly all on her own. I had no problem in naming her as she is mainly white with a huge brown dot on her back; it can only be Snelsmore Polka Dot. Polka Dot is full Sister to Snelsmore Nathaniel who we have retained in stud. He is a smart little colt and will be put forward for his Voluntary Vetting in 2013, with the view of selling him as a...

We have had a busy week at Snelsmore; not only has our new stock of tack arrived, we’ve had our first foal too. On Wednesday 18th April, Possingworth Park Wendy, a sweet bay mare better known to us as Mouse, had a lovely little bay colt by Kington Zazarac. We bought Mouse a couple of years ago knowing her pedigree would work well with Za Za Rac’s; we are so pleased with the outcome having already had a bay filly, Snelsmore Oasis, last year and now a smashing little colt. Our foal names start with ‘P’ this year, so if anybody has any suggestion of a name for him or...

Our 2012 show season has got off to a good start with lovely weather and strong competition Snelsmore Nevada our two-year colt has wintered well and took Junior and Reserve Senior Champion, while Snelsmore Mystique was Reserve Junior Champion. Our two yearlings, Snelsmore Oasis and Snelsmore Otis, were also placed well and behaved beautifully, which is always really encouraging for future shows. Both ponies enjoyed their day and I am sure they will learn and improve from there first experience. Our 2012 show results page will be up and running...

Snelsmore Matilda has been sold to a new home in France. Matilda’s affectionate nature and outward going character makes her the perfect pony to help her new owner, Dominique, start up a new adventure and animal farm. Matilda will be staying here at the stud a little longer to be covered, giving Dominique time to organise new arrangements for Matilda and two young Shire horses also purchased in England. I wish them all the best in the...

We are pleased to be giving lovely rosettes to the highest placed geldings in several classes at the Southern, Wessex and the South Downs Shetland group shows again this year. We are hoping this might encourage gelding owners out there to get into the show ring and have some fun. We would love to hear about your results, perhaps send us a picture of your geldings on Facebook.

We are sad to announce that our lovely Donabi Blueberry has passed away this week of old age. Blueberry was the first Shetland pony we bought from Reading Sales in 1995 along with a stallion Firth Sunny Glen. This partnership produced our first foal Snelsmore Raspberry; little did we know at the time she was the start of our relationship with Thimbley & Shorland, selling ponies at Reading Sales. Blueberry was a wonderful foundation mare and we have a lot to thank her for. She will be sadly...

For more information please don’t hesitate to contact us or keep watching our site.
Read MoreTobiano Homozygous
Snelsmore Nightingale and Snelsmore Odakota have both been tested positive as a Tobiano Homozygous, this means they carry the TT gene. Having this gene enables them both to guarantee 100% colour regardless of mate, with a strong possibility of also passing this gene to their offspring. Both ponies are out of Croft Bluebell and by Snelsmore Jasper. Naturally we are very pleased with this partnership and look forward to next year’s...
